Top UK destinations being booked by Brits for UK holidays in 2022 including towns in Devon, Cornwall and the Lake District – but Wales is set to be a strong contender

Bideford has been named the most popular staycation destination for 2022, with the port town already seeing a surge in bookings from Brits for holidays in the coming months.
Snaptrip’s annual Staycation Report has unveiled that the North Devon town is the most booked staycation spot this year on the platform, followed by the likes of Newquay in Cornwall, and Keswick in the Lake District.
Last year had seen Whitby crowned the most popular, although this year it’s taken fourth place in the updated rankings. At the time, the report also found that two-people bookings proved the most popular in 2021.
It’s not difficult to see why Bideford appeals to holidaymakers. After all it’s surrounded by heaps of beaches and countryside walks, while the town itself offers up plenty of great pubs, restaurants and shops to explore.

Commenting on the report he said: “After a surge in staycations last year it’s encouraging to see new, lesser known beauty spots across the UK be recognised as ideal places for a holiday.
“With six destinations in Wales seeing the largest increase in bookings for 2021, including the town of Llandovery with the highest increase of 669{e9f0aada585b9d73d0d08d3c277fd760092386ec23cac37d50f4b8cd792b062a}, and several locations making the hotspot list for 2022, we would expect to see UK holidays in Wales continue to trend next year.”
