KEEPING your pet happy on holiday can be pricey.
With costs in all walks of life rising, many owners are taking their dog with them instead of paying £15 or £20 a day to put them in kennels.
But there are cheap ways to treat four-legged pals while travelling.
SUN SAVER: To stop them overheating on the beach, they need a cool, shaded area to snooze in.
Pick up the Jackson Pet Company’s pop-up shelter half-price at mountainwarehouse.com.
Now £12.99, down from £25.99. It folds flat so is easy to pack into the car.
WALK IT OFF: Make sunny walks better with a cooling pet harness, currently £2.50 at B&M, down from £5. It is available in blue or pink.
B&M also sells cooling dog vests for smaller dogs, now £2, down from £3
AN ICE TIME: For a summer treat, Aldi has Beechdean Doggy Ice Cream, £2.99 for a four-pack of 110ml tubs, in pea and vanilla and apple and carrot flavours.
Or follow the recipes on pdsa.org.uk.
The pet charity suggests mashing banana and frozen berries with water and freezing the mixture in ice-cube trays.
ON THE ROAD: Keep pets hydrated in hot cars with the travel water bottle from petsathome.com.
The attached tray helps prevent spills. It currently has 25 per cent off, down from £1.50 to £1.12.
EASY BREEZY: If you are planning a lengthy road trip, it could be worth investing in a fan that attaches to the side of their crate or cage so pets keep cool the entire way.
Simply2pets.com is selling an £18 fan but at The Range, the Lazy Bones pet cage fan is £9.99.
LIE DOWN: A cooling pet mat is the perfect travel accessory.
The Scruffs self-cooling mat is £22.29 on Amazon and is filled with cooling, non-toxic gel that ensures it’s around 5-10C cooler than the temperature in the room.
The Esoes fruit cooling mat is a bit of fun for £10.99.
It looks like a slice of citrus fruit, giving some proper holiday vibes.
