A sandy beach is just a few steps away, a lively boardwalk is virtually at your doorstep, and the sunrise scene over the Atlantic seems close enough to touch: When it comes to well-located oceanside locations, Virginia Beach’s hotels and resorts tick a lot of …
The new Azul Beach Resort Cap Cana, situated on the sands of the Dominican Republic’s world-renowned Playa Juanillo, opened its doors to guests for the first time earlier this month. Celebrated for its powdery, sugar-white sands and brilliant turquoise Caribbean waters, the beach is also …
Based on how Universal Orlando Resort property appears now, many guests do not remember that less than 8 years ago there were only 3 hotels on site. Now, Universal Orlando offers 8 hotel properties with an entire new theme park area being built. Cabana Bay Beach Resort reigns supreme as largest individual on-site hotel with about 2200 rooms. Many guests express that Cabana Bay Beach Resort is their favorite one. Why do people love this resort hotel?
Cabana Bay Beach Resort is classified as value plus.
Value plus means lower cost/features but more than value hotels like The Endless Summer Resorts. This means rooms there will not cost you an excessive amount though. Now, I visit mostly during off-season. However, I tend to pay less than $100/night on average when I stay at Cabana Bay. Considering cost of comparable room value plus style room at Walt Disney World, Cabana Bay serves as a great value.
Cabana Bay resides literally next door to Volcano Bay waterpark.
If you have any plans to visit the Volcano Bay waterpark, you must consider staying here. There even exist Volcano Bay view rooms at Cabana Bay. Since you get early park admission to Volcano Bay, you will want to get up early. Staying at Cabana Bay makes that simple. The edge of Cabana Bay Beach Resort property is within a few steps of the property of Volcano Bay. You have a state of art waterpark literally right next door to your resort hotel.
Cabana Bay offers excellent pools and poolside amenities.
Cabana Bay offers two large pool areas. One pool gives people a small waterslide to enjoy. The other pool area features an actual lazy river. Both pools have pool side bars area offering quality drinks and food. Especially if you have teens/older children, the pool area will entertain them for hours. During one trip when my son was a younger teen, he asked to just spend a day enjoying the pools instead of roller coasters.
Cabana Bay offers far more amenities than you would expect at a value plus level resort hotel.
For example, on second floor resides an actual bowling alley. The arcade area there will entertain family members for some time. Cabana Bay also offers guests a gigantic fitness center. Usually on Friday late afternoon/early evening, character meet and greets happen in the lobby.
Cabana Bay serves many varieties of dining options.
As mentioned, both pools offer food options. An excellent Starbucks serves guests from 6am to 10pm daily. The Galaxy Bowl bowling alley sells quality grill style food. The main food court, Bayliner Diner, presents a large variety of food options at higher quality than expected at a value plus. Some of those items previously reviewed at Pirates and Princesses are Cabana Bay Burger and Cuban Sandwich if you are interested. Some theme park media visit this food court often just for the burger itself.
Now, Cabana Bay possesses traits we dislike. No hotel shines perfectly. However, if you are looking for a vacation that will not destroy your budget, Cabana Bay should be considered.

Premier beach-resort brand, Outrigger Hotels and Resorts revealed the bold design and contemporary dining outlets for its newly branded Outrigger Surin Beach Resort.
The boutique property facing the powder-fine sands of Surin Beach in Phuket is scheduled to open on 15 December 2021.
This welcome announcement comes as Thailand removes quarantine requirements for fully vaccinated tourists from 63 countries, effective 1 November. The newly designed 60-key Outrigger Surin Beach Resort is a lifestyle property that draws inspiration from the destination’s easy-going surf culture with vibrant colours and vintage artwork. Nearly half the rooms are in premium categories, including elegant studios, as well as stylish and spacious plunge-pool and two-level suites.
Guests can laze at the resort’s two swimming pools, feel pampered at the spa, exercise in the upgraded fitness studio and dine at the unique split-level restaurant and bar.
Nalu Bar & Grill is the property’s brand-new restaurant concept that incorporates an open-flame modern BBQ with a global influence and intimate rooftop bar with magnificent ocean views.
“Outrigger Surin Beach Resort offers guests a perfect balance of seaside surf living with an urban-city vibe; the countdown to opening is on and we look forward to welcoming visitors to our newest Phuket property,” said Tony Pedroni, Outrigger’s Area General Manager for Thailand.
Mr Pedroni added: “With its open-style kitchen, wood-fire grill and stunning sunset views from the upstairs bar, the resort’s Nalu Bar & Grill is sure to be a hot spot for locals and visitors alike. The relaxed, yet refined ambiance is intimate and the menu utilises local flavours in fresh ways.”
The resort transformation, including Nalu Bar & Grill, reception areas, as well as rooms and suites, was designed by Santhaya & Associates (S+A), Thailand’s oldest architectural firm, established in 1963.
Based in Bangkok, the award-winning firm is led by Dutch-Thai architect Faun Israsena, whose grandfather founded the agency, alongside Belgian interior designer Sophie Bughin. The company is a long-time partner with Outrigger, having worked on multiple projects for the hospitality brand in Thailand, Mauritius and Fiji.
S+A’s designs celebrate local culture, tradition and history, connecting communities and providing inspiration; this is in lock-step with Outrigger’s goal of being a place where local culture meets world-class hospitality.
“At Outrigger Surin Beach Resort, the interior evokes the tropical beach life in Phuket and the surf scene at Surin Beach,” said Ms Bughin. “Features such as the colourful murals, vintage artworks and reclaimed wood combine to create a vibrant, laid-back and locally relevant experience. This is our translation of ‘The Outrigger Way’ into design,” she said.
