When it comes to game day or airline tickets, prices are already going up. “There’s an airline pilot shortage,” said Duane Jasper, owner of Destinations Unlimited. “There aren’t as many planes in the air right now. So what we’re seeing is that planes fill up very quickly.” Jasper says COVID-19’s impact on the supply chain is all a part of why flights are costly. He and his team at Destinations Unlimited have sold a number of travel packages on Sunday for Hawkeye fans heading to Orlando. When it comes to buying a ticket for either game, Jasper says there’s no science behind it other than to do it fast. “Sometimes we’ve seen it where it’s more expensive to buy early in the secondary market and the prices seem to drop as you get closer to the game,” said Jasper. “In other cases, it’s held pretty steady.” Travel agents also say it’s very important to look into travel insurance. Due to COVID-19 and weather, it’s a best practice to make sure you get a refund if you have to cancel your trip.
