58 Exciting New Hotels Opening Around The World This Winter

The colder winter months are approaching, but the hospitality scene is staying hot with new openings around the globe. Despite lingering pandemic challenges including the latest Omicron variant, these hotels and resorts are preparing to welcome guests whenever they are ready to travel. In addition to several exciting openings this past fall, travelers have plenty to wanderlust about as they plan 2022 travel. These are some of the newest hotels to open around the world between December and February 2022.

East coast

With 250 rooms, The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad will make its debut in February. The top four floors will hold 16 luxury residences. Its restaurant, Zaytinya, will serve Turkish, Greek and Lebanese cuisine mezze style and is under the helm of Michelin-starred chef José Andrés. He will also oversee the rooftop bar where guests can sip cocktails 500 feet above the city.

Near the country’s oldest market, Haymarket, Canopy by Hilton Boston Downtown will open in February with 212 rooms, complimentary bikes for guests and a burger outlet. Guests can take advantage of the Hilton Honors loyalty program during their stay.

Mountain Edge Suites at Sunapee, Ascend Hotel Collection, now part of Choice Hotels as of this month, welcomes guests to its Adirondack-style New Hampshire address. The hotel is close to Mount Sunapee State Park and Mount Sunapee Resort and is a popular spot for winter sports like alpine cross-country skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, and ice fishing among others. The hotel also has a spa plus indoor and outdoor heated pools.

Marriott’s new international corporate headquarters will welcome a new hotel of its own when the Marriott Bethesda Downtown at Marriott HQ opens in January. The 245-room property will feature many of the namesake brand’s familiar amenities like an M Club for premium room categories and top Marriott Bonvoy elite members. In the lobby will be a “deconstructed” 360-degree Greatroom bar, where cocktails can be prepared tableside rather than behind the bar. It will also feature the brand’s signature Bourbon program as well as numerous local beers on tap.

At the intersection of King and George Streets in Charleston, South Carolina, The Pinch (from Philadelphia-based Method Co.) will add another address to the city’s luxury hotel scene when it opens next month. The apartment-style rooms come with a full kitchen and laundry facilities.

Hyatt Centric Buckhead Atlanta opens this month near Lenox Square Shopping Center. James Beard Award-winning chef Hugh Acheson will headline the food and beverage outlets at the World of Hyatt-participating hotel.

The new YOTELPAD Miami, opening in February, will mix 222 accommodations and 231 condo units into its 31-floor tower. In addition to a rooftop pool, the hotel will offer robot butler service, contactless check-ins and beds that convert to sofas to maximize space.

A dual-branded AC and Element Miami Brickell open this month sharing a rooftop pool and bar. AC Miami Brickell brings the brand’s Spanish flair with Iberian peninsula-themed breakfast items while the Element brand, one of Marriott’s many extended stay brands, offers in-room kitchen facilities.

Boca Raton welcomes two luxury names to the fold when The Boca Raton Cloister and The Boca Raton Yacht Club open this month. The latter is an all-suite, adult-only property with views of the yacht-lined Lake Boca Raton. At The Boca Raton Cloister nearby, guests will have easy access to the racquet club and an 18-hole golf course.

In January, Lake Nona Wave Hotel in Orlando will open with over 400 pieces of art and a 50,000 sq. foot sculpture garden. Other unique amenities include voice-activated room controls and Dr. Deepak Chopra’s first ever Chopra Mind-Body Zone and Spa.

1 Hotel Toronto opens this month on Wellington Street West with an eco-conscious focus. Furnishings crafted from reclaimed local fallen trees and zero waste practices including carbon offsets and an onsite organic composter. The hotel will convert 100{e9f0aada585b9d73d0d08d3c277fd760092386ec23cac37d50f4b8cd792b062a} of kitchen oil and grease into bio-fuel.

Club Med Québec is opening its first property in Canada this month with its signature all-inclusive style. The year-round resort will stretch across 300 acres with activities for all ages including ski-in, ski-out access, hiking, biking and a Nordic-inspired spa.

Complete with a speakeasy and guest-only art gallery, The MUIR, a Marriott Autograph Collection hotel opens this month on the Halifax waterfront in Nova Scotia, Canada. The property will also have private access for those arriving by yacht.

Midwest and central states

Next month, Thompson Denver opens with 216 rooms and suites and a sixth-floor sun room bar and lounge. Chef Ludo Lefebvre will oversee Chez Maggy, the hotel’s restaurant.

Austin will also see two highly anticipated January hotel openings with the Thompson Austin and tommie Austin (a JdV by Hyatt hotel). Both properties are in the city’s music and entertainment district and will participate in World of Hyatt. Thompson will have impressive food and beverage outlets plus an al fresco pool terrace and billiard room. Thirsty guests at tommie will find an all-day coffee bar and wine shop.

In Houston, The Laura Hotel, Autograph Collection will open in January. On the restaurant menu will be a variety of Southern-themed fare including a reinvented version of chicken and waffles. A rooftop pool, cigar concierge, monthly wine tasting and virtual tours of the hotel’s art collection are sure to be big draws.

Also nearby and slated to open the same month is The Woodlands Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton. With 75,000 square feet of indoor meeting and event space, 402 rooms plus two championship golf courses, it is sure to be a favorite of families and group functions.

In February, Hotel Tupelo will open in Elvis Presley’s home town. This will be the Mississippi city’s first boutique hotel. It will feature 79 rooms and a boutique selling locally made items. This will be the first hotel in the U.S. to feature Muro Scents bath amenities from Italy.

IHG Rewards members have two new hotel openings in The Big Easy to explore. Hotel Indigo New Orleans – French Quarter opens this month in the central business district of town. Also this month, the voco St. James Hotel New Orleans opens its doors for the first time two blocks from the famed French Quarter.

Denver’s Hotel Clio will open in the Cherry Creek North shopping district as part of The Luxury Collection attracting Marriott Bonvoy fans in February. Named for the Greek muse of history, guests can tap into their own inner muse thanks to inspiring views of the Rocky Mountains from guest rooms.

Winter sports fans have a new option in Snowmass this month. Viewline Resort Snowmass, Autograph Collection and its ski-in, ski-out location is ready for guests eager to hit the slopes or enjoy some apres-ski relaxation. Its opening is just in time for the 75th anniversary of Aspen/Snowmass.

The long-awaited opening of Montage Big Sky is here. This month, the luxury property debuts its 139 rooms, suites and residences in one of the Mountain West’s hottest ski destinations. The resort will feature a 11,000 square foot spa with indoor pool plus a bowling alley among other amenities.

Next month, Pendry Park City opens its doors with ski-in, ski-out access, 153 rooms, suites and residences, and four restaurants and bars. The spa and heated rooftop pool will also prove popular.

Both Montage Big Sky and Pendry Park City will be part of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts collection and its I Prefer Hotel Rewards program.

Ski and mountain destinations are on a roll this winter. Schweitzer, the largest ski resort in Idaho and Washington, will welcome a new hotel in January. Humbird overlooks the town of Sandpoint as well as the biggest lake in Idaho, Lake Pend Oreille. The modern-style, wooden ski lodge hotel will offer ski-in, ski-out access.

West Coast

Hyatt will open its first luxury hotel South of Market in San Francisco by February. Once the Park Central Hotel before a $70 million transformation, Hyatt Regency San Francisco Downtown SoMa will open featuring a Regency Club for premium room guests and top loyalty program members plus a 3,200 square foot fitness studio including Peloton bikes. A partnership with the Academy of Art University will highlight local artists throughout the property.

Also in February, West Hollywood will welcome the Short Stories Hotel with 66 contemporary-style rooms and a courtyard pool where classic movies will be projected on the screening wall after sunset.

Tommie is coming to Hollywood with the debut of the city’s first JdV by Hyatt brand property this month. Near Sunset Boulevard, tommie Hollywood will have 212 rooms and a 7,000-square-foot rooftop pool and lounge.

Napa Valley is getting 78 new cottage suites when the luxe Stanly Ranch, Auberge Resorts Collection opens in February. Each has an outdoor terrace with fire pit facing the vineyards. As a working winery and farm, the resort also has private residences and a full-service spa.

Europe

Bulgari Hotel Paris opened this month in the French capital on the famed Avenue George V. Like its namesake brand, the hotel is surrounded by high-end shopping and within walking distance of the Arc de Triomphe and Champs-Elysees. The two-floor penthouse suite has its own private rooftop garden overlooking the Eiffel Tower.

In the Dutch town of Oosterend, Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) welcomes Op Oost Boutique Hotel and Restaurant to its collection this month. World of Hyatt members can earn and redeem points with select SLH hotels through a unique partnership.

Moxy Manchester City, which opens this month, is located in a historic building relating to the hat, soda, chemical and silk industries. Exposed ceilings and raw design materials bring Moxy’s youthful edge to this hotel, which is in the heart of the financial district.

Middle East and Africa

Anantara World Islands Dubai Resort is opening this month on the “South America” island of Dubai’s World Islands complex. The Anantara brand is known for high-end experiences, wellness amenities and fine dining, including its Spice Spoons cooking school and Dining by Design service (private, romantic dinners that can be set up anywhere). With 70 rooms, suites and villas facing the Persian Gulf and Dubai skyline, all rooms have an entertaining view.

Founded by a former South African flight attendant-turned-hotelier, The Spade Boutique Hotel and Spa opens this month in the Western Cape township of Khayelitsha. As the first luxury hotel in the township, guests will find 13 suites with modern interiors and regional cuisine, all just 15 miles from Cape Town International Airport.

Asia-Pacific

The family-owned private island resort of Motu Nao Nao opens this month with three villas, each accommodating two people. Located near the island of Raiatea in French Polynesia, the island staff can arrange excursions or water sport activities, but many may prefer the solitude to relax and do nothing.

Kimpton Kitalay Samui opens this month with four restaurants and 138 rooms along Choengmon Beach. The family-friendly hotel will also have a two-floor kids club and participate in the IHG Rewards loyalty program.

Also in Thailand, Outrigger Khao Lak Beach Resort opens to guests for the first time this month in Phuket. With a kids’ club, beachfront pool and numerous restaurants, it suits both romance-seeking couples and families well.

On the northern tip of Borneo overlooking the South China Sea, Malaysia will welcome the February opening of Alila Dalit Bay. The beachfront resort is a short drive from Kota Kinabalu and Mount Kinabalu. The property’s design inspiration comes from the traditional longhouses of the local Dusun Lotud tribe. Each of the villas at this World of Hyatt property are connected to the beach and lagoon areas.

In January, voco Orchard Singapore will be the first property for the growing IHG brand in southeast Asia. The 423-room hotel will have four restaurants and bars plus plentiful meeting space.

Park Hyatt Jakarta will open its doors in January as the brand’s first property in Indonesia. The hotel sits atop the highest 17 floors of the new 37-floor MNC Land Tower. A 24-hour fitness center and five food and beverage outlets await visitors.

Hilton Honors fans will have a new option in Shanghai with the January opening of the Conrad Shanghai in People’s Square. This will be the largest Conrad hotel in Asia with more than 700 rooms.

The Tasman, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Hobart, opens this month in Tasmania. The Australian hotel shares three buildings including two dating to the 1840s and 1940s. The 152-room hotel will have an Italian restaurant and participate in the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program.

Silky Oaks Lodge, fresh from a $15 million renovation, opens this month as part of the Baillie Lodges collection. Custom furnishings and newly commissioned works of indigenous art are part of the redesign of this luxury resort near the Daintree Rainforest.

Hyatt Centric will join other World of Hyatt-family brands with this month’s opening of Hyatt Centric Melbourne. On Downie Street with views of the Yarra River, the hotel will offer 277 rooms and a restaurant on its 25th floor.

Kimpton Margot Sydney will open in January in a heritage-listed 1930s Art Deco revival building with a rooftop pool and restaurant plus 172 rooms and suites.

Across the Tasman Sea is the first Holiday Inn in the country to open with the brand’s “open lobby” concept. Opening this month, the Holiday Inn Queenstown Remarkables Park has rooms that overlook The Remarkables and is only a five-minute drive from the famous resort town’s airport.

Central and South America

Met Hotel Bolivia is opening next month in La Paz, a city that, until now, had no comparable design hotel. Boasting the first rooftop bar in town, the property has 76 rooms and suites decorated in regional style including pillows bearing the weaving patterns from the Jalq’a culture in Southern Bolivia and bedroom rugs using similar to the historic designs from Tiwanaku near Lake Titicaca.

This month, South America’s biggest city welcomes Rosewood São Paulo as well as marks the brands first property on the continent. Located in what was once a maternity hospital in a historically protected building within Cidade Matarazzo, the hotel will be a mix of accommodations and residences. Designer Philippe Starck and Brazilian artists Vik Muniz and Saint-Clair Cemin are all involved in the hotel’s interior look.

Mexico and the Caribbean

Banyan Tree Puebla, one of Accor’s participating loyalty brands, cut the ribbon this month in Puebla, Mexico. The 78 rooms and suites show local design and furnishings, regional art pieces and eco-friendly materials. Banyan Tree’s signature Saffron restaurant will be on a rooftop terrace bringing the brand’s popular Thai menu to Puebla.

Conrad Hotels & Resorts’ first hotel in Quintana Roo will open in January with the Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya. The resort will be surrounded by tropical vegetation with Caribbean Sea views.

By the end of this year, the avid hotel brand for IHG will hit 50 properties. One of its newest opens this month in Tijuana bringing the budget-friendly brand and its popular free breakfast to Baja California.

Deep within the Mayan jungle, La Casa de la Playa is Grupo Xcaret’s latest luxury project. Its 63 butler-serviced, oceanview suites are opening this month in time for the holiday season. The resort also has a panoramic library, full-service spa and store selling Mexican textiles and designware.

In February, Royal Uno All Inclusive Resort & Spa will open its doors in Cancun with two large pools plus a third family pool with play area. The resort will have nine restaurants and bars, a kids club and spa.

Along Mexico’s Riviera Maya, Etéreo, Auberge Resorts Collection, opens this month with its 75 oversized studios and suites. All feature ocean views with the largest three-bedroom Penthouse Suites spanning 3,925 sq. ft.

Zoëtry Curacao Resort and Spa is a wellness-focused, all-suite property opening next month. With three restaurants, three bars, two pools and a full-service spa, there is plenty to keep guests busy. They also have access to nearby Dreams Curaçao Resort, Spa & Casino as well as the beach.
